H.E. Mr. Shahabuddin Ahmed, Ambassador of Bangladesh in Japan visited the Tokyo International University (TIU) located in Saitama on 12 October 2022 and met Dr. Nobuyasu Kurata, Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Trustees of TIU. Currently, there are about 170 Bangladeshi students in TIU about whom the Chancellor uttered positive opinion. The University is trying to provide quality education for the students to fulfill their dreams in Japan or anywhere else in future. The Ambassador acknowledged that the TIU has been playing a vital role in terms of the capacity building of Bangladesh’s human resource. The Ambassador thanked the Chancellor and his team for taking special care of the students and stated gratification that they are getting the guidance and guardianship from the highest level of the university. After the meeting with the Chancellor, the Ambassador held an interactive session with the Bangladeshi students of TIU. The students expressed satisfaction about the academic environment of the university. They also voiced their gratitude to the Ambassador for visiting them. The Ambassador advised that they should utilize this opportunity in TIU for getting quality education which will help them become worthy global citizens. Finally, the Ambassador attended a session of Model United Nations (MUN) club of the TIU. There the member students discussed important issues like the ‘digital divide’ and how to mitigate the gap towards building better society for the citizens of affiliated countries. At the end, the Ambassador delivered his observation to conclude the session and wished the best of luck for all. During the visit, Mr. Syed Nasir Ershad, Economic Minister of the Embassy accompanied the Ambassador. Ms. Shizuka Kurata, Professor and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of TIU, among others, were present at the meeting with the Chancellor. The visit helped expand the communication and deepen the understanding with TIU. Since this university is favorable for the foreigners where the students are able to study in English at the undergraduate level, more Bangladeshi students are encouraged to come and study in TIU.
