H.E. Mr. Shahabuddin Ahmed attended the 21st Boishakhi Mela and Curry Festival today on 8 May 2022

H.E. Mr. Shahabuddin Ahmed attended the 21st Boishakhi Mela and Curry Festival today (8 May 2022) at Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park, Ikebukuro, Tokyo as Chief Guest. Mr. Yukio Takano, Mayor of Toshima City and Mr. Miyoki Takagiya, Deputy Mayor of Toshima City were present as special guest. This is the largest Bangladeshi gathering in Japan.  Japan Bangladesh Society (JBS), a registered non-profit organization (NPO) and Toshima-city have been jointly organizing the Boishakhi Mela and Curry Festival at Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park, Ikebukuro, Tokyo since 2000. The Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo supported the initiative as a patron of the festival since its beginning. This year, in the backdrop of the 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relationship between Bangladesh and Japan, the event has taken place in a more festive and celebratory manner. Bangladeshi expats living in Japan and local Japanese together enjoyed the day-long cultural programme and flocked at the Curry Festival where vendors offered delicious curry and other Bangladeshi food.
