Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed made a courtesy call on Mr. KANO Takehiro

 

This afternoon (12 January 2022), H.E. Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed made a courtesy call on with Mr. KANO Takehiro, Director General/Assistant Minister of Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department of the Foreign Ministry. This was the first meeting of the two in the new year. After exchange of greetings, the Ambassador thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government and people of Japan for their continued support and assistance to Bangladesh especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. Last month, Japan sent another 1.5 million doses of Japan-manufactured AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh under COVAX mechanism making the total so far 4.5 million vaccines. Ambassador referred to the recent letters sent by the Hon'ble Foreign Minister of Bangladesh to his counterpart. On the participation of the Hon'ble Prime Minister at the Japan hosted Nutrition for Growth (N4G),the Japanese side thanked Bangladesh. The two sides also discussed the upcoming events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and other issues of mutual interest.

H.E. Ambassador was assisted by Deputy Chief of Mission, Shah Asif Rahman and Counsellor, Sheikh Farid from the Embassy side.
