Embassy of Bangladesh celebrates International Migrants Day

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo organized a successful program to celebrate “International Migrants Day 2019” at the Bangabandhu Auditorium of the Embassy on 18 December 2019. The program was attended by a cross section of Bangladeshi expatriates, which included representatives from the business community, remittance companies, professionals, sending organizations, students, technical interns and women entrepreneurs, among others. Messages of the Hon'ble President, the Hon'ble Prime Minister, the Hon’ble Foreign Minister and the Hon'ble Minister for the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment were read out at the outset of the program. Charge d'Affaires, Dr. Sahida Akter, delivered speech on the importance of the day and government’s initiatives for the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates living abroad. Counsellor (Labour and Welfare) delivered a presentation on “Employment and Remittance: Bangladesh and Japan Perspective”. An open discussion was held with the active participation of remittance sending organizations, representatives of sending organization and members of the Bangladesh community. In the end, two technical interns from Bangladesh shared their experiences with the audience on recruitment process, working environment and required Japanese language level to work in Japan.
