H.E. Mr. Shahabuddin Ahmed, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan Attended Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Japan-Bangladesh Society (JBS)

H.E. Mr. Shahabuddin Ahmed, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan participated at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Japan-Bangladesh Society (JBS) today, 02 July 2022. He expressed satisfaction for being able to attend this first in-person AGM after long three years because of pandemic. During his speech, the Ambassador paid tribute to the founder of JBS, Late Mr. Takashi Hayakawa, who visited Bangladesh in 1972 and met the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Mr. Hayakawa was in awe of the great personality of Bangabandhu. Describing the excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Japan, the Ambassador also mentioned that Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended at several international events/conference/summit held in Japan online, thus further strengthening the Bangladesh-Japan relations.
He congratulated the office bearers and members of the JBS for their contributions and wished their more success. He concluded by assuring all possible cooperation and support for JBS by the Embassy. The AGM was addressed by Mr. Teruo ASADA, Chairman of JBS, Ambassador Mr. Masato WATANABE, President of JBS, Mr. Jun HASEBE, Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Shinsuke NAGAI, Director of JICA. The Ambassador was accompanied by Syed Nasir Ershad, Economic Minister of the Embassy.
The AGM was followed by a pleasant cultural program where Japanese students sang Bangla songs.
