The Embassy Celebrates the Recognition of the Historic 07 March Speech by UNESCO
The Embassy celebrated the recognition of the historic 07 March speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by UNESCO as ‘World Documentary Heritage’. The program began through placing of floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation. In her welcome remarks, H.E. Ms. Rabab Fatima, Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan, welcomed the decision of UNESCO and mentioned that UNESCO, through this decision, has fulfilled its historic duty. She also thanked all involved in the process of the recognition. She said that the delivery of this speech was a determinant moment in the history of our liberation struggle. Besides highlighting the brief history and background of our struggle of freedom, this speech includes a complete set of instructions for our war of independence.
The speech was screened before the discussion program and it drove the audience spell-bound. The flow of emotion surfaced even during the discussion. The Japanese guests who listened to this speech for the first time were moved by it and they praised the firm and charismatic leadership of Bangabandhu. They also told that UNESCO has very rightly recognized this speech as ‘World Documentary Heritage’.
The program was attended by a large number of audience which includes Bangladesh community in Japan, Japanese officials and memberof Japanese civil society among others.
The guests were entertained with traditional Bangladeshi snacks at the end of the program.
