National Mourning Day 2017 Observed with Due Solemnity
The Embassy observed the National Mourning Day with due solemnity. The Embassy organized two separate programs on the occasion: first segment held in the morning and the second segment held in the evening.
The programs included hoisting the national flag at half mast; observing of one minute silence; offering of special prayer; reading out of messages issued from Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs and laying floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman; screening of a documentary on the life and work of Bangabandhu and discussion on the life and achievements of the Father of the Nation.
The program was participated by cross-section of Bangladesh community in Japan along with the Japanese dignitaries including Mr. Kazuhiro Watanabe, the Japanese translator of Bangabandhu’s autobiography ‘Unfinished Memoirs’ and Ambassador Matsushiro Horiguchi, former Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh and the Mission officials.
Refreshments were served at the end of the program.
